Go Green With One Of These Fantastic Vehicles

Going green is all the rage.  However, hopefully, this isn’t just a passing fashion but rather something that is here to stay.  After all, if we don’t all start making the effort to reduce our carbon footprint, there won’t be much of a world left for us to live in.  A problem is that many individuals are unwilling to make the effort because they think industries are far worst at polluting.  This is certainly true, but a journey of thousands of miles starts with just one step, so why not set an example?  Hence, if it is time to think about buying a new car, why not opt for a truly green model this time?  Let’s take a look at some of the greenest cars that are out there.

Best Eco Cars

A green car is a car that has the lowest possible environmental impact throughout its entire lifecycle.  This means from when each individual part is created until the day the vehicle is destroyed and returned to the environment.  People automatically assume that electric or hybrid vehicles are the greenest, but there are actually some very green petrol and diesel vehicles too.  The best eco cars at present include:

  • Renault Twizy (electric)
  • VW Up! (electric)
  • Peugeot iON (electric)
  • Citroen C-Zero (electric)
  • Smart ForTwo (petrol)
  • KIA Rio (diesel)

These are but a few of the cars, and it is certainly true that most are electric, but you can see that all fuel types are available.

Best Low Emission Cars

Low emission cars are vehicles that do not pollute the environment as much because they don’t emit greenhouse gases.  This listing was created by measuring the CO2 emissions from the tail pipe.  Some of the best low emissions cars available on the market today include:

  • Fiat 500C
  • Skoda Citigo
  • Chrysler Jeep
  • Suzuki Alto

Again, this list shows that it isn’t true that only boring, tiny city cars like the Smart are good on emissions (although the Smart is a low emission car).  When a Jeep reaches this list, you know that bigger is not necessarily bad.

Best Cars with £0 Car Tax

In the United Kingdom, certain cars do not have to pay road tax.  Some of these vehicles are over a certain age, which gives them exemption, but mostly it is because they are so green.  If your car is Band A, meaning it has less than 100 gram of CO2 emissions per kilometre, you are fully exempt from tax.  Some of the vehicles included on this list are:

  • Mitsubishi i-MiEV (electric)
  • Renault Fluence (electric)
  • Tesla Sedan (electric hybrid)
  • Renault Zoe (electric)
  • Tesla Roadster (electric hybrid)

Most of the best cars that have these very low emissions are indeed electric or hybrid.  However, petrol and diesel vehicles are starting to improve, and perhaps there will soon be one that is able to have even lower emissions.  At the moment, however, this is reserved for cars that actually use green energy.  Note that the two Tesla vehicles use renewable energy.

Sarah was happy that she had found a great value green car, meaning her road tax would be very low.  Now all she had to do was find the best cheap car insurance young drivers could get their hands on.
